Biography

Background

Reena A. Bhatt is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon, specializing in Hand and Microsurgery and Pediatric Plastic Surgery. During her career she has had the privilege of taking care of peripheral nerve patients, patients with complex tumors and trauma, pediatric plastic surgical patients, hand surgery patients, and patients with a wide variety of reconstructive needs. She is currently an Associate Professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is the medical student clerkship director and the plastic surgery specialty advisor.

Dr. Bhatt’s clinical interests include the surgical treatment of patients with complex upper and lower extremity nerve injuries, patients suffering from the sequelae of nerve compression, patients with major and minor wrist and hand trauma, children born with congenital differences of the upper extremity, patients with vascular anomalies, and patients with complex oncologic or traumatic needs including flap reconstruction.

Dr. Bhatt earned her medical degree at Drexel University College of Medicine and subsequently matriculated to Plastic Surgery residency at the Rhode Island Hospital/ The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at Beth Israel Deaconess and Children’s Hospital of Boston/ Harvard University. She subsequently earned her Certification in Plastic Surgery and her Certificate of Added Qualification in Hand Surgery.

She is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH), American Association for Hand Surgery (AAHS). She is quite involved with her national organizations and is the recipient of numerous awards including Top Doctors Rhode Island and the Deans Excellence in Teaching Award.
